There are three main weather seasons that affect Bangkok.
1. The rainy or monsoon season. This typically runs from May to October when the days are hot and sunny, frequently interrupted by rainstorms lasting from 1 to 4 or more hours.
2. The cool season. This season follows the rainy season and starts around the end of October/ beginning of November. It is still hot but it is the coolest time of the year. It ends in February. This season is the high season for tourism to Bangkok, with correspondingly higher hotel prices, flights etc.
3. The hot season. The hottest time of the year in Bangkok - between the end of February and May. It gets very hot in Bangkok, sometimes as high as 40degrees c in some places. During April the Thai people celebrate their New Year ( The Songkran festival ) with 3 days of fun, soaking each other with water.
